But Once Again
One more time
I hold you and show you my love
but once again
as your leaving
you tell me you can't help it,
you still love him.
He treats you like dirt
yet your love don't sway,
he will come home and beat you
just because he had a bad day.
His drunken spree's bring on a mad rage
you feel the wrath of his hand
as he backs you into a cage.
The children live in fear
as they hide behind a door
they hear your screams
as they echo from the base of the floor.
The next morning you always hear the word "sorry"
and may even see a tear on his face.
So what do you do
but hold his hand and tell him its all right
yet you can't go out in public
for fear of disgrace.
You come to me and tell me
to please not turn you away
you tell me you need me,
and I hold you
with no words to say.
But I know in my mind
once again,
that as your leaving
I will hear the words
I can't help it,
I still love him.
