What A Fool
I look out and see no fork in the road
only one way to go as I leave this sleepy town,
I look back and see eyes so cold
as I try to slip away without a sound.
Out on the horizon there are new adventures
new fires to burn before they become embers,
we both knew this day would come
"Darn girl" don't look that way, It was fun.
Look at the mountains as they call to me
beckoning me to see more beauty,
"Now wait a minute" I never said this was just a fling
but on the other hand, I never promised anything.
The sun is rising and I need to go
all I have to do is pull the door handle,
now I see a tear slowly stream down your cheek
"Lord I have to be strong" not weak.
Don't you see it? The world is calling
I can't let my heart go falling,
"God she's so beautiful"
so wonderful.
Memories come flooding back
as I look out down the track,
a warmth flows through me
as I turn around and bathe in her beauty.
Her smile and her arms are open
the happiness I see, with more than hoping,
"God she's so beautiful"
really life has been wonderful.
Echo's of crying as the door closes behind
only this time, the tears are mine,
looking back upon reflect
I knew,
"I was a fool"
