Adolescent Flurries
Summer still lingers
in sweat soaked desks.
Julie fans herself
in China made
hand me downs,
Tori sits across from me
tugging on her blouse,
letting air in,
while I stretch un-noticed
for a peak at teenage blossoms.
George thinks he's Ringo
banging the desk drum
in a bad beat
as Mrs. Garber stares
a hole right through him.
Trent sits in the front row
thinks he's the teachers pet
always dropping his pencil
on the floor.
Obvious reasons,
Mrs. Garber wears short skirts
I started dropping my pencil
more often.
Lisa sits in front of me
she's a cheerleader,
I love Fridays
team spirit day
and she's loaded with that,
Mrs. Garber lets her lead cheers
from her seat,
I just sit back and smile.
Becky's in love with Aaron
sits behind him passing notes
he uses them for spitwads
on Craig
the new kid in school,
while feeling Angela up
in front of him,
she giggles a lot
Becky turns red.
Johnny's always asking
dumb questions
like,
"Mrs. Garber, are we ever
getting air conditioning?"
I hope not
she's wearing a white blouse
today,
its hot
pencils aren't dropping
and I'm still smiling,
even when Lisa isn't cheering.
