Requiem for a Broken Life

Life undeserving, her thoughts so unnerving.

The battle went on, and everything was gone.

Through the war she would attain, marks that shall remain.

I pick her up, take her hand. Hold her close so that she may stand.

Kiss her softly, tell her it'll be alright.

She thinks she might, but I convince her to fight.

On that night, she will shine bright.

Erase the blight, move beyond.

You will not drown, for this is but a pond.

Saved from a haze, forever and always.

I will protect you, for the rest of our days.
