PERCEPTIVE TRANQUILITY

Folder:
2004 Poetry

it sounds so good to hear

the gravity of the night

when darkness consents

a few hours of peace

the wind passes through the

jealousy window, teasing

me to be dead to the world

but i want to stay awake

and let my perceptions linger

across this vast riveting darkness

where the only glow comes

from the radiance of the stars

and the moon

I enjoy the night more than the day

I don’t call it insomnia

I call it perceptive tranquility
