sitting by the window

with nothing but a frozen grin

for 2 unbroken hours

she remained still

contained the spasm

and forbade the twinge

a famished ant just went

under her haunch

“Don’t move”, said he

as he stroked the canvas

with his subtle paintbrush

finally, the session’s over

hurriedly, her fingernails

scuffed the bulbous mark

on her haunch, and the full ant

trekked its way home--unflustered
