the girl
once thought to be
sinking without trace
through the pages of history
gradually though
she was able to rise from obscurity
with the tide of research, fortitude,
purpose and belief
a fleeting possibility
that da Vinci's genius resurged
reinvigorated within his greatness
so blinding
the art world smarts
being drawn as it is, by its ears
to the master once more
the birth of an illegitimate and anonymous
princess in Milan is clear
she waits presently in a secret Swiss vault
for her formal introduction
into the modern day suspicious world
so oh so poetically allow me to introduce
you now to 'La Bella Principessa'

Last night I watched this marvelous episode on Nova on PBS about a small chalk on vellem painting found by an art collector. It was listed that it was a 19nth century unsigned German work but the man suspected not, so he had it looked at by numerous highly well trained authorities and there is piling evidense that it is a Leonardo da Vinci. If so, the small painting he purchased for 22 thousand US dollars could be worth well over 100 million.I posted the url so one can click on that and fully read the story. The Nova special on PBS was just exquisite to watch so if you can find that link on line and watch it streamed there you won't be sorry. I was utterly captivated and knew from about 15 minutes in that I would write a poem about this extraordinary find and thankfully this was the product that came from that very knowing.
