THE PALACE OF PLAY

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

through the lattice of hope
some sunshine of thoughts
manage to stream in
amid meadows blooming
and public parks brimming
with gregarious children
laughing uncontrollably
'The Palace Of Play'
gets daily rebuilt
teasing the roots of heaven
to grow here
shrieking,careless joy
sets the adults' worries of life
oh so gently aside
sparking proud parents' faces
to light up like halogen Christmas
lights
and jogging strangers to smile at
one another in passing openly
a lightness of spirit seizes the senses
leaving ice cream as the mascot to
such a hot, bright and glorious day........

Author's Notes/Comments:

Inspired by a few hours spent at the local city part last week with a friend of mine and her kids. This poem was born of my beloved past time of watching children play so gleefully.  Enjoy.
