the darkness is not

thine enemy

like some would have

us believe

the darkness

accepts all

that the light

will not cover

and holds dear

the shapes

that cannot be

seen

the darkness blankets

impurities

and lends mystery

to otherwise

mundane objects

man foolishly fears

the dark

associates it with

evil and wicked intent

when in actual fact

the darkness

is little more than

a cloak that has saved

for instance many a soldier

from death in battle

so hold dear sometimes

the perimeter of the darkness

stand up for its purpose

and let not others abuse

its valuable use

just as I have this moment done.............
