a startling education
I received from
mere moments spent
in a dim, narrow hallway
all the commotion at your door
in the distance
a rigid though sad reminder
that security will always be
an issue
for the deeply insecure
I had supposed otherwise
though before tonight
to think a minor assault on
of all things
your old high school locker
so terribly many years ago
catapulted your psyche to
such displays of fear restraining
even to this far out date
11 dead bolts
seriously?
in your pleading glance of
please don't misjudge me
for this
I have to admit
I was mortified for you
and wanted to cry at the
obvious mental wasting
such incident had caused.............
