POETRY'S PICASSO (POET FRANK GILBERT)

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

from the down cast eyes
to the over stroked goatee
behind both
which harbors
a brilliant brain
age revealed
without doubt
from cranky numbers
achieved
reasoning fraught hard
with sketch surface poetry
brilliance beneath grayed hair
or curious child never matured
seeking answers through
salacious pages
mirroring what can never
be fully reflected back
seasoned wanderer
ever parted and parceled out
in disjointed word form
you strike up a multitude of shivers
you beast bent on grace
the world shall hold you up
in a finer light one day
'Poetry's Picasso'
how you twitch in your own parlay...............

Author's Notes/Comments:

To He Who Was But Then Eighty............poet Frank Gilbert. I read a lovely article on him in the New York Times March 13, 2012 and it was wonderful and really gave the man a unique flavor and this poem came to me as I read on about him. Blessedly his character stood far taller than his over all personality.
