sleep, sleep
you temporary thief
you prey upon time
with little care for its grief
mercenary of the night
stabbing your eyeless knife
indoctrinating every
corridor you encounter
with restlessness and
agitated strife
chemicals rise to
battle for dominance
one wrong signal
and the night haunts
the dreamer
that gentle passage
unto slumber lost
callously traded in
for mindless hours
of channel surfing
amid Olympic tossing
and epileptic turning
thanks so much brain
for the epic turmoil
and deprivation.............
