eyes of beauty
reduced to
some distant pain
waning aura of grace
abdicated
misery's champion
divinity's waste
rocky ledge traveled upon
with bruised bare feet
lessons in shadows
learned
speak to the agony
that is marital defeat
mighty obstacles encountered
all former consideration spurned
dysfunctional interaction
miserly overtones
distrust ever gurgling up
who is this man
who is this woman
mere sick and twisted caricatures
of the fond lovers
they sporadically
once were
everything good
ravaged
leaving bitterness
distrust
and fight weary
fatigue
each 's name now
little more than a
searing slur
sad
so very sad
but oh so necessary
it would seem
all of it
to endure
'Bitter Companionship'
slowly fading away.............
