ROCK-N-ROLL EARS

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

whether still fourteen
or now forty four
I ever keep my 'Rock-n-Roll Ears'
whereas Clapton sung so often
of his Rock-n-Roll heart
I sing along
give me any day Zepplin or Leppard
soothe my pain with The slower sides of
The Scorpions
make me Reggae to the Police
Oh U2 you must come too
to play so to make me
just think and think
it matters not
punk soft, pop, or hard rock
I'll take it all
and gorge myself on every chord
the years pass
and I find myself longing for the
radio days of forgotten now bands
like Accept, ABC why even that
catchy tune by Kajagoogoo
I'm arrested development humming
to the Go' Go's
leave me alone top forty of today
toss me back to Queen or The Who
as I do my Bohemian Rhapsody to
let my Imminence Front slowly
like Springsteen's song Fade Away............

Author's Notes/Comments:

Am seriously dating myself with this poem here but was hearing on this oldies station earlier today old rock songs I'd not heard in decades unless I pulled out my own cassettes, albums or some rare 8 tracks of those songs so it was nice to actually hear them played again on a radio station and that inspired this poem out of me.
