I watched this special on PBS the other night about under water mountain ranges deep in the ocean only recently discovered. Scientists realized that they are gradually (via under water earth quakes) being violently forced into this large gaping fault line of like 4 plus miles wide and near earth core deep. Scientists are keeping an eye on them via radar and the like but there is nothing they can do about them. One seismologist said it's startling to watch. Would be like watching all of Appalachia slowly being shoved off some giant cliff many miles below the earth never to be enjoyed again. I was very absorbed by this latest phenomenon and this poem grew from my observing that informative television program.
