the eyes will never tire
gazing timelessly into your fire
no other eyes in exchange
for your face
narrow ledges slipping on words
there I trip at the curve
with you ever catching me
in a deep nose dive
straight
into your open embrace
you've viewed me with beauty
you've viewed me with scars
you've never judged
you've always been fair
even when fighting hard
you've often tolerated but
mostly you've loved
this mess of a girl
who scrambles to stand up
and face you as the woman
you always knew she could be
you are a rock
you are a mountain
you hold nearly every thing in
that's love
through this uncertain awe
you've been all of that
yet so very much more
to me
you've been a friend
a solid connection to
my shaky self worth
you serve my flagging
system
like
a scrumptious soul latte'
even when we both have known
that was far more than I deserved
that is your creed
gentleman friend
that you've been
always tucking away
his own needs
so I always run to you
just cause I know
you will always pull me
in
and help me untangle
myself from the pain
just so I can better
break free
and breath again..................
