WAS AN INTERESTING DAY, INDEED (HUMOROUS)

JOURNAL # 40

before mine eyes
crowds of smoke
sat too in the sun
for far longer than I had
as the firemen had long
since come
I lazily watched their
acrid filth as it
billowed higher and higher still
eager to escape from where
it had come
a house some doors down
had a clogged flu fire
the firemen like giggling children
happily
played at being firemen to don
their suits and roll out the hoses
to put out the strange chimney
leaking flames
I sat curiously watching
upon my front porch steps
sipping my diet soda and petting
my equally curious half lab
contemplating the events
that lead up to this tragic emergency
when what should disturb my
congenial reverie but
a man in short white sleeves
clip board in hand
asking me
'Did you see anything?'
Smiling back lazily
I replied, drawing out my words
'Sure
that tall dark haired handsome young one
over there, earlier removing his shirt,
to better adjust his fire suit
was a nice, unexpected show! ( I winked)
but other than that no. I only stepped
out when I heard the lonesome wailing
of the fire siren'
crisp white shirt chuckled at my honesty
and said, 'Well, that was all I needed to
ask, thank you ma'am'
and he returned back down the street
looking like an alternative muscle man
who lost sight of his gym
' Was An Interesting Day, Indeed'
I chided myself as I chased the dog
playfully back in doors..................
