then before
I must concede
that I have not loved
by admission of thine own
mention of Shakespeare's
precious dusty sonnet
so tenderly recalled
for what all I thought
were loves
before me altered
and upon my own spirit
alteration did come
dark shadows limped
where that vague illusion of love
before had danced so lavishly
graceful
sparkling once in
sublime acceptance
but I foolishly fought
what was never
meant to be
and cut myself to pieces in
a variety of useless ways
on the jagged remains
of such a painful process
of disenchanted realization
isn't it so terribly funny
that only just now
your lovely little poem
of all sized experiences prior
taught me that
so very quietly and purposefully
using but a handful of
less is more lines
thank you
for from my spirit
with the wisdom of your words
you've managed to wipe away
'The Prior Grime'.............
