UPON THE WEST VIRGINIA TURNPIKE

Folder:
JOURNAL #36

I drove back to North Carolina

through such marvelously

milky hazed clouds

that hovered about

to blanket the mountains

as the sun dappled dots of

precious light

gently through the recently

stripped Autumn trees

signaling there is love

so much love

God's love

still lingering about in

this highway dominated valley

that so many drive through

minute after minute

and all too easily

they forget about it

almost as quick as

they pass through its

sudden beauty

but not I

I noticed

I noted

I loved

I appreciated

and then I wrote

this poem to

its dedication

juxtaposed as it was

to the ever present

joy of the simplest

creation

in my mind

that of the everyday

sights

put before

man in the hum drum

of his own expected mediocrity..............
