ADMIRATION REVERENTLY ADDRESSED

JOURNAL #33

southward

back

Renaissance man

remember

at Canaan's edge

King's cause won

through his blood's loss

his final waltz

a Shubert serenade

of thought to be impossible

pursuits

distinguished southern preacher

in an every man's suit

you made your mark

forcing the world

to never forget you

in all you gave

body and freedom

to give back to your

fellow black brethren

the dignity they deserved

and had been denied for

far too many decades

so I say we should

feel pity not

for your exit was

just as it was meant to be

glorious

pin pointed

and not totally unexpected

even by you

by the sacrificing of your self

the march of your journey

was carried on by mass others

who felt they owed you a debt

to see the injustice turned on

its own ear

and ended a shamefully dark page

of ignorant inhumanity

I stand proud to call you one of my

many heroes of that time ...........
