MISSISSIPPI GOTHIC IN A DOWNPOUR

Folder:
JOURNAL #33

Mississippi Gothic

in a downpour

there are four kinds of rain

cold river

grandiose mist

succulent steam

and

fanciful fury

years of patience

cluster the hills and

landscapes

stirring the puddles,

gorges and fat river beds

with each their water table

spoons

such strange moist candy

dabbled upon dark beauty

that is any sort of a rainy morning

kissing the dirt of Mississippi

deeply

out of nature's respect

for life

not with standing the pathetic

condition of the receiver herself

for Miss Mississippi is but a cheap

date getting drunk on the wine

of sweet Mr. Sky's giving

so thankful for his mere meager

attentions that she opens herself

gladly to any kindness bestowed

virtuous or otherwise..............
