a quarter 'till one
the hush in the night air
stands to stretch
the wind bows to the horizon
gracefully holding the hand
of the sea
back away from the face of
the curious moon
sentiment sketches the evening
in timeless tender shadows
nature in her envy
stirs up a wild wood scent
that grows a dancer's legs
and waltzes beneath our
tickled noses like a
flamboyant flamingo
after the tiniest of sips
I laugh
thinking aloud I say
I love you for all of this
this utter dreaminess
but I never liked champagne
my grinning apology
you choose to absorb mid word
and I become lost once again
in the overwhelming joy
that is you
for but me and this night
you kidnapped romance
and bathed me for a new day............
