I do not readily rely upon the superficial use
of over indulged feminine artifice
nor would I dare to merely just guess
that any such confession simply could suffice
with but a singular swipe of some cheerfully
off the cuff, infatuated finesse
instead I would much rather wipe from my
carefully masked features
a smirk filled smear of grim casualness
Helena Rubinstein took the old kitchen style
of cosmetics
and rolled it into a very big business
now Cover Girl , Arden and Mary Kay too
dominate the the global media with their own
brand of marketable beauty blitz
but who gave the business world such shallow
right to blanket numerous fear and flaw
with artfully applied pancake mix
the same sort of people who churned out
Marilyn Monroe all baby dolled up but
falling apart inside from lack of any real
self confidence
suffering as well from acute loneliness
I think I would rather remain my natural self
with all the milk fed pale skin scrubbed fresh
and soap clean
instead of some ghastly clown like creature
with puffy raccoon's eyes at 3am
removing the last of her war paint before bed
with Kleenex and Vaseline
how can any woman hope to be accepted for her
true self if she does not expose the 'real' her
to your every day male
let the real men judge for themselves
the real women verses 'The Cosmetically Incorrect'
one created by a pretty young beauty consultant
at Belks trying her hardest to score a big sale
Come on Ladies
open your newly unmascaraed eyes and see
yourselves for who you really are
individuals
first and for most
not every day movie starlets in the perfect
making
but real women from all walks of life
women who's faces are vastly different
but all the more naturally lovely
simply because it was God given
and not hastily extracted from a glop of
colored goo in a cold cream jar..............
