I am deeply inspired
by your vast works
of a remarkably selfless love
even though you were cruelly taken
from this earth
just one tiny month
after my very own birth
How I wish I could have known you
I pity the hateful, the ignorant
and the oh so narrow minded
those who do not know of your many
generous civil rights deeds
as the country's here today
so very desperately needs
to be fed great quantities of
understanding and tolerance
my brother the black man
still suffers slurs today
but to a much different
yet more subtle degree
at the violent hands of his
rage fueled paler counterparts
why are the whites so fearful
and resisting
why is the black man portrayed
as being so lowly and unrevered
when in many notable instances
he should be cheered
for his bravery alone to live in
such a rigid and unforgiving society
and his ability to somehow overcome
others' repressive behavior
along side his own physically wretched
beginnings
oh, if only all men could learn to see
beyond the skin's unimportant tone
then a more God like nation to our
children we will have shown
for all men
those who came before
those who live now
as well as those yet to come
there must be a better way
for all of us
I tip my heart to your immense insight
my dear, dear departed Dr. King
these things I just wanted you
of all people to know...................
