he is looking for an acceptable way out

that is all this is

a man still so in love

yet trying to do the right thing

the whole entire idealistic notion

is a farce

it makes no real, 'in the moment' sense

who after all really would choose to fail

rather than excel

in such a clear and obvious success

who but a true and timeless lover

that is

a man so captivatingly intense

tears are no more than disregarded

children of a broken heart

ah, but dear sweet, savvy, selfless

in a stale whiskey glass

every woman who's ever met you even once

via the silver screen

surely must have loved you

deathlessly close yet secretly deep

just as I did

all those incredible first times

without any emotional baggage

nor walls

built up as barriers

to the great passage of time

beautifully blessed be the celluloid

saved

and reverently restored

for other fair minded females

yet born

as a visual vehicle for their very

own private love affair

with you.........................
