by the dawning hope
of a once before only
old and forgotten dream
I felt the firming hands
of the future's refusal
all but cast me into a
breathless stream
Reality
the none too clearly thinking
man's life vest
a carefully constructed concept
of faulty fractured humanity
built upon the precarious foundation
that man is a clever primal creature
clearly to be reckoned with
it was only later until we learned
that it was only by consequences
brought on by his own arrogant mistakes
at times man kind even equivocated to
nothing more than a laughing stock to
mother nature
we've become far too accustomed to history
sadly repeating herself
slavery, war, democracy, communism, famine
and drought
and all the while she's taken on the unwanted
role of traditions favorite teacher
but this should not have to be so
just how many of our fathers must continue
to suffer so to teach the rest of us our
harder necessary lessons
it is a most brutal and self deceiving factor
one man's suffering could teach another man
restraint
this process long before now should have been
let go
man's own blood should not have to be plentiful
ink from which we draw to write history's vast
ledgers of human mistake in verse
ironically enough though we've come so far so fast
yet in a lot of the more important ways
we are far, far worse
the founding fathers of our infant country
would weep foul bitter tears if they could
only see to just what absurdly vulgar degree
we've abused their incredibly generous yet
so well thought out legacy
in short
throughout the unfolding ages
man very well may be much more advanced
yet he's simultaneously become even more of
a menace
so let us pray fervently that this
'Brilliantly Stupid' animal man
adapts himself most humbly to his environment
and that he doesn't continue on this cruel
path of forcing his dwindling environment
to adapt to him
for if he does
he will surely kill the all giving mother
earth
year by unfortunate year
and mother earth will be forced to take hers
back
and somehow retaliate
by killing all of man.................
