candid like a king pin

while aloof to someone who knows

of no apparent coup

we see political tempers flex, flair,

curl and unfold

somewhere there the like but in a much tamer

from of view

suspect of course to the recent arrival of a

leader more young than the usual accepted age

I hasten to scribe

where though I ask are his proper credentials

for this years patent page

sixteen years a governor you say

well at least promise that he will likely

expect no bribe

from his lowly common fellow man

he will exact no impoverished pound of flesh

nor much too vaguely expound as he speaks down

to newly gathered crowds of faces fresh

promising promises time yet for better days

to come

a leader of uncompromisable hope

to most

but a possible nemesis to some............
