Grace
she comes to us in a great many diverse forms of fate
similarly through the eyes of a quiet yet strangely all
knowing child
or a big dog behind a fence
locked in by a large imposing gate
his eyes seem kind, though his muscular build
while standing proudly upon his territorial ground
screams 'Wild'
yet with all visual freedom removed his gentleness
is heir apparent
in the timid yet almost bored face
that has long since resigned itself to a solitary
existence minus even the remote possibility of a mate
animals I believe reflect greatly our deepest purity
to love and eventually accept
they care not if we are poor, deformed, ugly, fat,
inadequate or merely inept
they take us always as we are
at heart's value
and they are never deliberately or otherwise
derogatory to our deepest personal desires
their beautiful spirits possess an unconditional
love so loyal and true
in a quaint manner of speaking wouldn't the world
be a much more loving place if everyone could see
one another through the all forgiving eyes of
a dog...............
