Christmas with all her charm and holiday
glory (un)fortunately is fast approaching
and any child of an age even old enough to
understand will upon that so beloved morning
need no further instruction nor coaching
as joyously into his promised packages he'll
cheerfully rip
Oh Christmas, how were you able to upon us all
so long ago get such an unbelievable grip
reaching out to the child in each of us and in
nearly every being able to even remotely
comprehend
his last cherished dollar on this very holiday
he is all too willing to go out and spend
but for a day of good food, some merriment
and a farthing of good cheer
Christmas, ah indeed must surely be the
greatest time of the year
so, come St. Nicholas gather us all
for you are the best blessing from the so very
blessed himself
God who sent you to represent in all of us
a small grain of grace and God's good will
for that alone must be the most needed in
this so terribly confusing world
filled by immediacy indifference, and overtures
of over kill
so give peace room in your so hungered hearts
to spread her tiny, gentle wings of hope and
reflect in each of us such promise for a better
tomorrow
now come with me Christmas
let us together go off and elope.............
