old romantic images
play out before me
almost longingly
upon the big screen
frank clear moments of love
and all its trappings of
unspoiled innocence
so cleverly portrayed
reveal
such gay, magic movie methods
of harmless mirage
of an ideal era
becomes the far too often
repeated theme
all but fragments of the good
life
stolen from time itself
yesteryear gems of creative
goodness
divided now it seems
only by death
theirs that is
hero and heroine versus
Husband and Wife
so very different in attitude
temper, range and depth
both though once so very
throbbingly alive
virtual jumping pulses of their
simply divine time
leaving far too soon
this much too fast evolving
world
whirling somewhat likely still
breathless with wonder
in their dazzling wake
and yet
to even such an overly high
tech era
so unarguably touched are we
by their diverse body of work
their talent and dedication
their vigor and pizazz
why their mutual joi de viv
and the story book making of
their day to day lives
they truly were stars in every
right
glittering celluloid reflections
of their simply gay times
faithful reminders of dreams
that have never allowed them to
die in any of us
once just simple men and women
yet now immortalized for countless
generations to come
on film
Gable and Lombard
one of the earliest super couples
to rise up in the Talkies.............
