NEAREST THE LIKE (T.S. ELLIOT)

Folder:
JOURNAL #21

I wish I were a literary scholar

just so I could better understand

all your lovely eluding words

you make one so dearly wish

for such fanciful things

oh, if only I possessed just

one page from your brain's great

many precious books

why, I could be a human thesaurus

of nature, love, tragedy, farce and birds

man's mystique would no longer fail to

baffle me at any point

from wherever I choose to turn

what must you have been like

what dreams drew open those

creative coffers in your mind

and could you

would you

share them all with me

in Heaven

or 'Nearest The Like'

if there you I just so happen

to find

with a slow grin that has steadily

grown from the well of some

sweet, private peace

I take such beautiful silence

as a resounding yes

so thank you so much

my dear Mr. T.S. Elliot............
