magnificent morning sunlight
dousing pure the wind swept trees
God it seems is speaking to them
the afternoon grass
as inviting as green limes
greets the enrapt eyes
so lush and joyous
happy childhood moments
mentally address
the giggle some gale of the blue birds
chirping over head
Summer
glorious rainbow drenched summer
I've missed you so
your perfect light
and long lazy lavender skied evenings
even the feel of your mid day heat's fury
just like now
when the young gregarious children
are out laughing, singing and playing hardest
I've missed every familiar sight, smell, feel
and sound
and I am inebriated
by your early Return
even though I'm known to gripe every scorching July
in sweated disgust at the heat
still I always rejoice in your so welcomed return
when from us spring seeds her breezy chill too quietly
step back so you can take your highly rewarded chair
upon the seasonal throne
far sooner than the calender has appointed
for you truly are the king
dominating to rule over fall, winter and spring......
