FOREVER EXQUISITE

Folder:
JOURNAL#10

blood red leaves utterly alive

upon a short unbleached bush

so vibrantly bright

camouflage sharp thorn like claws

almost desperately hidden

from virtual sight

each, its mutual need and respect

for the gentle opposing other

are mere death like attributes

to the tree's fragile life

put forth such grand beauty

as the autumn gales force

yet more struggle upon already near

pending strife

another of God's glorious creations

on life like display

in nature's own natural museum

one simply can not imagine such immaculate beauty

unless one personally happens to see 'em

standing often proudly apart and alone

on some wind chilled mountain like West Virginia hill

waiting ever so patiently with death so lovingly close

to the brink of Winter's unforgiving kill

so note that in my mind

memories and this very tree

must be

the only two dead things

that remain

what is poetry without the majesty of nature to write about every now and then.
