VALUES OF THE DEAD

Folder:
JOURNAL#8

my unrelated cousin Donovan once said

'A man is not a man without some even small form

of pride'

and no matter what, whether it be his family values

his morals or the freedoms for which his founding

for fathers died

what we each do effects in some small way

all of man

even those who are now dead

man must first learn to believe fully in himself

that is if he wishes others to one day follow

and down in the dirtiest of trenches he himself must

be willing to lay down alone and wallow

of course not everything old Donovan said was very

easy to swallow

but now that he's gone peacefully away

his words linger and fill a place that for the

briefest moment upon his untimely death grew quite

hollow

empty is the woman who does not come to grips with

her grief and loss

yet note that between which of the two I am currently

feeling it is indeed a competitive toss.........
