I, MY HUSBAND'S MISTRESS

Folder:
JOURNAL #19

we grew

two separate side ways

branching out from one

clearly defined path

but still

together

all the same

unified

for all to see

almost

as if

perfect

in each part

their prescribed place

we believe as one

for you see

generation gap

back then

possessed for itself

no such label

a deceptively calm happiness

has ruled our lives

seemingly without question nor

doubt

with you

so magnificently out there

in your finest element

proudly distributing your love

of the land

all across your lush green wind

swept acres

thousands upon thousands of them

settled long ago

by even prouder ancestors

and I

gently secluded indoors

with my many

and so very beloved books and things

happy for their regular afternoon company

as I still somewhat anxiously await your

strong solid presence' return

your warm evening's embrace gives needed

emotional sustenance to even the hungriest

inches of my ecstatic flesh

knowing that

'Our Time'

is only a short matter of

'only just what has to be done' away

dinner will only further set the mood

and manage to fan far more necessary appetites

I softly listen for and hear

your work boots so welcome announcement of your

arrival in the hall

they steadfastly carry you to me

not quite hurried but eager

here where I am patiently lounging in the den

our age old meeting place

a lioness waiting for her powerful lion

my barest breath audibly catches in my throat

as I fully know

yet another fantastic page

to our endless romance

is just about ready now t be written

the co-authors

at last

welcome each other

with an explosion of devoured kisses

what more could this writer/poet want

nothing I confess

other than

a promised eternal seat with my mate

next to God himself

this

my invited voyeurs

is marriage at its best

two matches for but one indefinite flame...........
