SWEET OBLIVION

Folder:
JOURNAL#31

a sun drenched and bursting afternoon

with picnic clutter all a strewn

beneath shade trees swaying

in such glorious spring bloom

amid the rustling branches

two languorous lovers

blissfully entangled

for the world leaving no room

in a casual splay unto each other

eye to lavish eye

leaning in

so mutually entranced

so sweetly oblivious

to their idyllic surroundings

with wrinkled clothing tugged this way and that

eager hands gripping

in fleshed joy

drowning

in the sweetness of their very own

perfumed motion

beauty for the moment

gently vacations

supremely unaware

in such pool of their oneness............

Author's Notes/Comments:

saw a couple of middle age one afternoon on my way to work on a picnic blanket in a small public park laying on the blanket lost in each other. Was lovely, nothing overly sexual just kissing and holding each other but so lost in each other they never noticed the cars there on the street at the light beside them. Was just so stunning to witness their mutually fed joy in each other and just being together so carefree. This poem was written before I made it to work. I pulled over on the side of the road a couple blocks up and jotted this down on a discarded paper napkin.......
