for a moment
in a trance
we lived a lifetime
we traveled to a distant shore
and made our home
in the shelter of a fervent longing
while the world remained at large
we blended and beaded our fertile,
woven thoughts
into a BRILLIANT tapestry of love's
mutual truths
we combed asside all previous heartache
and dissappointment
replacing the scissored scars and
jagged wounds
with unimaginable ideas of love and
tranquility
a true sense of mutual purpose had we
but then your stop came
and without a word or even another glance back
you got up and left me
the fantasy, lovely as it was
crashed and burned with the closing of the
train's doors after you
and I, in my own turn trudged home in the
cold, snow and emptiness of the evening
to silently go to my dark attic like dwelling
to eat a cheese sandwich with some soup
alone, yes
but warmed all the more by that unexpected
experience on the train
and after my prayers were said
I limply fell into a deep deep sleep
and awoke to the early dawn's immeasurable
pardon............
