A RECKONING UNRAVELED

JOURNAL#31

a softness bared

a struggle proposed

a personal crisis almost averted

trouble one can only suppose

ridiculous folly

for a moment there

death sat quietly in your mind

for 35 scary miserable hours

that boulder owned your stupidity

as it crushed the life out of

your pride and your legs

the ending when it came

though stacked in tragedy's favor

brought you home

thankful and alive

but less of the physical man you were

yet so much more of the innner you

you should have always known

lived within

and later came to find out

on the side of that rainy mountain

when left momentarily trapped, hurt and

alone

when one's body gets broken

that's when the spirit

fully stands up

to reveal the true man........

Author's Notes/Comments:

I watched a T.V. show on discovery channel last night called I shouldn't be alive about a guy who meets another guy in a rain forest of Australia to climb some really high mountain there and a boulder fell on the guy and he had to rely on this other guy he had just met to go get help it was very compelling to watch the reenactment of it. this poem came from that..........
