THE MENTAL SHEDDING OF ANOTHER YEAR

Folder:
JOURNAL #35

a long night into the end of the year

it looks like its going to be

winding up the remnants of 2008

with a cold fair well hug

the gladness sings clear

the moments glitter sweet

old songs cast their lyrics

longways

into the street

wintering blessings

regale tales of times since shed

we sing woeful songs of aud langsyne

and drink a toast

to eat with only the future's

freshest loaves of bread

well wishers and revelers alike

call here to fro in merry, splendid delight

the night is still so very young

they chant and cheer

its the year that is old

so come let us hold you near

and dear

sing with us and laugh and be reminiscent

the new year has come

a gift for all

strangely enough

that's why we call

each day new

and that there is no moment ever

like

the present...............................

Author's Notes/Comments:

a good way to start the new year by writing a poem on day one about the previous year's shedding.
