the bread of strangers
unbuttered and burnt
an abused heart
bleeding its bruised way back home
witnessing embarrassing holes in a
moment
where only sunshine should stream
tender tears
tumbling upon
a beach of concrete handkerchiefs
flashy new cans
carry old wounds
so ostentatiously on vacation from life
a symphony of children
laugh so gaily
near your father's too quiet grave side
small scale
as ridiculous as it now reads
edges out big events
making the most ferocious of daggers
out of mere scraps of pain
the human mind is so amazing yet skewed
depression and contentment wiggle about
in a psychosis like tug of war
punishing the systems
once pretty healthy functions
just please remember
God is such a marvelous magnet
a healer with his medicine of peace
if in our lives we allow him to be
his wanderous love
when called upon
pulls us safely out of each our own
little hell's flame
his love's every expression to us
as simple yet as welcome
as rain
on a hot, dry relentless day............
