remember that old and equally eccentric couple
Mr. and Mrs. Duck
they were the ones who lived down the lane
with the canine teeth
and their breath between the two of them could gag
even a goat
after I said all that, surely you must remember them now?
come on! Remember......... she's the one that was said
to have murdered her daughter-in-law's best jersey cow
she supposedly backed over it accidentally with her
deaf cousin Hobart's big green caddy
now, do you recall?
remember me telling you about Hobart? he's the one who
had the arms of an under loved octopus whenever he \
hugged us girls after Sunday services each Easter
which was the ONLY time he ever managed to make it to
church
like he never got enough loving at home from his touchy
feely wife Estelle
Am I ringing any bells yet ?
what a hoot! you couldn't have possibly forgotten all those
mirth filled memories yet
I remember them all so very well
after all its not been so very many months ago
Dwight and Dorothy that was their names
they were as original as dishwater is dull
our families each made us call them Mr. and Mrs. Duck
because respect for our elders was the number one rule
remember what we called ole Dwight though behind his back?
Mr LIGHTNING LEAD FOOT DUCK WONDER
whenever he'd go flying low down the graveled lane in his trusty
rusty old Ford chasing Earl 'Scooter' Potter
the one armed mail man
wearing a Dracula mask whenever Scooter left sear's
catalogs in his box
He did it cause Dorothy loved to look and spend
you see that catalog gave her ideas to fuel her
whims or so Dwight said
and Dwight knew 'ole sober sides Scooter was afraid
of bats, cats, werewolves and vampires even his own
shadow so that was Dwight's way of getting back at him
( the Dracula mask)
and it worked too!!!!
I bet a couple of times his pranks made Scooter soak his shorts
also, remember the time dumb duck Dwight tried to pas off his
mangy old cats as a feline version of seeing
eye dogs
then turned right around and unknowingly fed them along with
the slop one morning to Gertrude and Esmerelda
his prize winning hogs
I still to this day think he did that on purpose
we made so much fun out of pert near every thing
he, Dorothy, Hobart and Estelle ever done
its rather nice sitting here sharing these Fond Recollections of my
childhood neighbors with you
even if they were often unknowingly so much fun....
