THE SLAP

Folder:
JOURNAL#30

before my astonished eyes
a splash
a wave
a hollowed out dune
then a wrenching scene
a man
standing
crushed daisies falling from his hand
strangled at the stem
before him
suddenly
his love
ecstatic
but
in the arms of
another man
empty of any further promise
he turns
and walks lifelessly now
back to his car
crushed completely too
just like those pitiful daisies
he discarded on the sand
likely feeling more cold and alone
than the harshest winters' wind
absorbing that slap that came out of nowhere
without the use of even one human hand
feeling quite bruised
from what I was just forced to witness
I hollowly return indoors
a stone in my own heart
bleeding
always bleeding
over such scenes of great regret

Author's Notes/Comments:

taken from something I once witnessed while on  vacation.....very sad to see realization and misunderstanding take such solid hold of one's before hopeful heart. I can still see the complete crush-ed-ness of that poor man who saw his girl kissing another man, very sad yes, but also part of life, rather morbid of me to  create a poem from his obvious deep pain, ah, but that is what we poets do wee poet things....... (laughs)
