EARTH'S SAKE

Folder:
JOURNAL#2

regardless to self denial
I still choose to take my own chances
life is way too unpredictable today as is
to worry about any cataclysmic circumstances
unconditional love is a strong foundation
on which we propel ourselves into a future
full of practical prosperity and formidable social
advances
the quality of yesterday's dreams
this idea only enhances
on the subject of what our fearful future holds
your guess is as good as mine
I refuse though to sit on my aging duff and wait
around for an ominous warning sign
we have to do something before it's too late
to make a difference
that is the only answer
do you really think that the people in the earlier
centuries suspected that there would be any such
thing as aids, leukemia and other forms of terminal
cancer
now I could sit here half a day if need be and argue
this pointless banter and scathing rebuke
but why should I when the whole subject of the people
of our good earth's demise makes me want to puke
in closing this, maybe my blunt words have managed to
give you say a little spook
for all our sakes just one more thought
let's pray our meager existence wasn't meant to be
in the long run, some senseless fluke........

pretty deep for a 23 year old. Looking back I'm almost impressed.
