FAR FROM PARIS

Folder:
JOURNAL #29

Inca blood
upon a savage blanket
dust from a cathedral far
the savage primitive
so wildly splashed
his beloved Brittany
at the canvas and paint
of the rapacious Gaugnin zsar
how magnificently
you wrote your soul out to the world
in a faded notebook
NOAHNOAH
of rare greatness revealed
asking of the fog
that is man
What are we?
Where do we come from?
and Where are we going?
your miscellaneous things
forever and immortally beautify
the world
by your giving art permission to deform
its form
such purpose
reigns synonymous with genius
in every man's full memory of you....

Author's Notes/Comments:

written upon watching a special edition of Charlie Rose where he interviews the curator of the Boston museum where they are doing a showing of extensive Gaugnin works the show was fascinating and this poem evolved while watching that interview.
