THE WHALE AND THE WIND CHIMES(journal#10)

Wardolf, a very large white humpback whale

sat flustered, astride an ocean sandbar

one afternoon thwacking his gigantic tail

you see, young Wardolf  wanted some wind chimes

but not just any old wind chimes would do

Why, Wardolf wanted for himself a set shaped

like warm,  soft, summer birds

that chirped  a hearty cuckoo

he was a feisty young fellow with quite a

healthy set of whale's lungs

when  he chose to shoot water through his

blow hole

if it had happened to hit someone

why it would have really stung

Wardolf was at odds today

for his birthday was coming up and until

only just yesterday

he was quite hard pressed to even say what

he would like

for his fifth and ever so fine birthday

perhaps you would like some fresh fish

from the ocean deep

down at star point's base

his mother helpfully suggested

NO, but no thanks said Wardolf with a frown

that last batch I ate

gave me a terrible case of indigestion

well, what else could you possibly want then

my darling and beloved boy

I KNOW! she then stated how about a small sail

boat from up top

you could  keep it as a toy

NO MOTHER, Wardolf complained

I'm just not quite sure yet what it is that I

would like, but wait....... he almost too

eagerly paused

I know NOW what I would like....., some WIND CHIMES!

we could hang them up near the rocks by the

waterfalls!

WIND CHIMES! WARDOLF REALLY!  his mother nearly

screamed

for she couldn't imagine any WHALE she knew

wanting such a RIDICULOUS thing

and just WHAT pray tell would you  A WHALE do

with wind chimes my dearest young son?

Why, I'd listen to the lovely sounds that they made

as I splashed about and played in the evening water's

shade that protects me from the harsh summer sun!

But, why of all things WIND CHIMES, Wardolf WHY?

when no other whale in all the earth's oceans could

ask for such an outrageous thing that can only

HANG above us all in the sky

as large , pitiful tears filled poor Wardolf's tiny

dark little eyes, he cried OH please PLEASE Mother , please?

well, what was a a concerned whale of a mother to do

upon hearing from her only son such obvious sounds

of distress

so, in the end, his terrible temper tantrum

she then did try to appease

Alright Wardolf, there ,there dear, now don't cry

for tomorrow we shall soon enough see

just where and If such a shop exists that will sell

a nice  lovely set of wind chimes to the likes of

you and me

with us being white humpback whales no less.....
