THE TULIPS OF AMSTERDAM REFLECTED

Folder:
JOURNAL #22

through greener guesses and the marshes of my mind

you tramp across these hills of my heart

the flowers of my soul bloom gracefully all around you

their abundant beauty everywhere

your feet are welcome trespassers upon their lush

fallen petals

the mist of your attention they drink of

from the cups of your hands

your eyes are twin star beams that guide my longing

to be tucked away in your pockets

why the simple touch of your body's sweet shadow

cast softly upon my eager face

pleases me well

my whimsical thoughts are yours to explore

open is my will in concern to you

my heart skips violently

closed are these same eyes

now wrapped so very tightly up

in your precious presence

my home lies in the confines of your

renovated heart

while floating by the banks of a most

expectant glare

I greedily reach for the tenderness

that renders your eyes far lovelier to me

than any floral garden ever visited by man

the tulips of Amsterdam included

Heaven must surely wear sunglasses

the very shade of your lovely eyes today

the only difference being

their prescription is by far likely

much, much stronger.......

written for my dear, dear supportive friend Tommy from Gastonia, NC. Once upon an ancient time he was my biggest poetry fan and supporter. I will never forget his great kindness to me.
