AS TO TRY

Folder:
JOURNAL#3

poetic originality is an endangered yet absolute
must
like knowing when one can't hold marriage in its
highest regard without some argument involving
trust
if years can be measured by the presence of decay
and dust
then age old is a theory based solely on lust
why is it that lines linger in my head
like a favored passage in a book I long ago read
words for me refuse to remain silent or die
I find myself constantly writing down the answers
to the inner question of why
this is how I spend my precious spare time
reshuffling words around in my head so to make
them worthwhile of the rhyme
how easily I manage to get by
perhaps others will one day follow my lofty lead
if they dare so much, 'As To Try'.............
