I have heard this said

a great many times before

its easier not to care

so I take that in to mean

that its harder when you do care

as true caring requires some

expenditure of the soul

a sharing of whatever be the burden

or raining joy in the moment

and some are just not prepared

nor adequately equipped to share of

themselves

for it evolves out of depth

well then, it is a good thing that I

am properly outfitted for such necessity

and yet in certain cases

it is probably not such a good thing

I am repeatedly hurt in such former instances

yet an optimist such as me

rarely sees it the latter way

to me one's very own compassion

is his soul's fuel

and note that such fuel keeps me going

full speed at an even even better level

on which to operate

my complex emotions

I think with my brain

and love with my heart

there for it is rather simple to deduct

I care about and accept others

just as they are

quite deeply so in fact

and I do it best

thanks to my soul.................
