there's a spark in some shadow
lingering in the stillness of the brush
I hear a low sound not quite human
so, I hasten to hush
what are we listening for? my counterpart whispers
nearly hoarse
the repetition of a sound unheard by humans?
(I snap back at him) of course!
a stately woman dressed in thin flowing robes appears
along the foggy horizon just then
and poor cousin Calvin about wet his jeans
he just didn't know where to or when
but he shook so loudly that the one we were eying
couldn't help but hear
and it is for our possible detection I fidget with
fear
why, because she could likely murder us on the spot
with but one of her many practiced spell binding looks
how do you know? Calvin quivers
'because I've read it in so many witch tail books'
ya, you think she's a witch Mel? Calvin horrifyingly gasps
his fear became so tangible at that moment that I thought
it wise to let a few seconds elapse
'you know, I spoke up, they say witches can tell what you are
up to just by breathing in deeply the surrounding air
and if you are about and up to no good they know you are there
Calvin stammered, 'Mel, do you really think she knows we are close by?'
'yeah, I ah suppose I guess' I halfheartedly reply
'Mel, what do you think we'll find if we stay out here
any longer?'
'maybe, we'll see her pluck an herb or something from
the ground to make her powers stronger
'To do what Mel?'
I don't know squirt but maybe if we hang around a little while longer
we'll be able to tell
'but maybe we should leave now Mel'
but Calvin she hasn't done anything even close to evil
yet! I nearly yell
and at that morbid moment by both parties I knew beyond a shadow of
a doubt that my words had been clearly heard
and our white robed object of curiosity walked away into the shadows
without so much as a sound nor word
'Mel, look she left what do you think we should do now?'
'Go home of course you silly little toad' I replied in a loud disgruntled growl.
and we did just that............
