UNDER PRIDE'S THUMB

Folder:
JOURNAL #6

his look was of unquestionable intent

and was as good as it was fully meant

on his practiced proposal a good deal of time

he's obviously spent

he wanted only everything and nothing less or more

he wanted my heart my soul and the child I was about to bore

he expected me to submit to his hard won will

he claimed that the empty void that floated inside me he would

one day claim, refinish and fill

his promises were so loud that I can almost hear them still

his dreams were consummate as was his skill

not every day does such a magnetic wind of a man as this

get to fill this soul's sails

I'm just not so certain I can abide by the rules

his full possession entails

rationalization is the harshest form of a mental beating

to he who unfairly fails

for he whose hands have been previously harmed

little comfort can be found in the company of nails.............

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this from one of those cheesy romance novels 186 pages of heart break and passion intermingled until the last four or five pages and then they live happily ever after. I'm sure you know the type I'm talking about.
